Keywords, Topics, and Prompts
In Surva.ai, we use "keywords" and "topics" interchangeably. Both refer to the search queries you want to monitor. When tracking AI visibility, these keywords become the "prompts" we send to AI platforms.
What is a Keyword/Topic?
A keyword is any phrase that users might search for or ask an AI assistant. Examples:
- "best project management software"
- "how to improve customer retention"
- "Asana vs Monday comparison"
- "what is CRM"
Keywords vs Traditional SEO
Traditional SEO focuses on ranking for specific search queries. AI visibility tracking is similar but different:
| Traditional SEO | AI Visibility |
|---|---|
| Exact match keywords | Natural language queries |
| Single search engine | Multiple AI platforms |
| Ranking position (1-100) | Mentioned or not mentioned |
| Click-through rate | Brand mention quality |
Types of Keywords to Track
Informational Keywords:
- Questions users ask when learning
- "What is...", "How to...", "Why does..."
- High AI visibility potential
Comparison Keywords:
- Users evaluating options
- "X vs Y", "best alternatives to", "top 10"
- Critical for competitive positioning
Transactional Keywords:
- Users ready to buy
- "best", "pricing", "reviews"
- High commercial intent
Brand Keywords:
- Your brand name + modifiers
- "[brand] reviews", "[brand] pricing"
- Defensive monitoring
