Setting Up Your Brand Profile
Your brand profile is the foundation of accurate tracking in Surva.ai. The platform uses your brand name, domain, and additional context to identify mentions across AI platforms and search results. Getting your brand profile right ensures you capture every relevant mention without false positives.
Why Brand Setup Matters
Surva.ai searches for your brand in AI responses by matching:
- Your brand name in AI-generated text
- Your domain in citations and links
- Common variations and misspellings
There is an important distinction based on brand name length. Short brand names (4 characters or fewer) are matched by domain only to prevent false positives from common words. Longer brand names are matched by both name and domain references in AI responses.
What Surva.ai Extracts Automatically
When you add a brand, Surva.ai crawls your website and uses AI to automatically extract:
- Target audience - who your product or service is for
- Brand voice - your typical tone and style
- Mission statement - your company's core value proposition
- Differentiators - what sets you apart from competitors
- Suggested keywords - AI-generated prompt ideas based on your site content
This information is stored as your Brand Overview and used throughout the platform for content generation, outreach personalization, and opportunity analysis.
Creating Your Brand Profile
To set up your brand:
- Navigate to Settings > Brand Profile
- Enter your Brand Name - Use your official company name as customers would search for it
- Enter your Domain - Your primary website (without https://)
- Select your Industry and Business Type - SaaS, ecommerce, local service, healthcare, agency, or other categories. This contextualizes AI analysis and content generation.
- Select your Country and Language - Affects which Google region Surva.ai monitors for organic rankings and ad data
- Set your Service Area - Choose national, regional, local, or global depending on your market coverage
- Click Save Brand Profile
What Happens After You Save
When you create a brand, Surva.ai automatically:
- Cleans and validates the domain you entered
- Fetches your brand favicon for display throughout the platform
- Crawls your website using AI to generate your brand profile (target audience, voice, differentiators)
- Creates an "own brand" competitor record for self-comparison in visibility calculations
- Seeds 12 default content writing rules that prevent AI-sounding patterns in generated articles
- Switches your session to the new brand
The website crawl and AI profile generation happens in the background and typically completes within a few minutes.
Brand Name Best Practices
Choose your brand name carefully because it directly affects mention matching:
- Use your common name - If customers say "Surva" not "Surva.ai Inc.", use "Surva"
- Avoid generic terms - A name like "Software" will produce too many false positives
- Short names get domain-only matching - Brands with 4 characters or fewer are matched by domain only to prevent false matches with common words
- Check your Brand Overview - After the AI crawl completes, review the auto-generated brand overview in settings. Edit it if anything is inaccurate since this text is used to personalize content generation and outreach.
Multi-Brand Support
Agencies and multi-product companies can add additional brands from the brand switcher dropdown in the sidebar. Each brand has completely isolated data: prompts, competitors, mentions, citations, content plans, and insights are all separate.
Brand limits by plan:
- Starter ($59/mo) - 1 brand
- Growth ($99/mo) - up to 5 brands
- Business ($299/mo) - up to 15 brands
To add a new brand:
- Click the brand switcher in the sidebar
- Click Add New Brand
- Complete the brand profile for the new brand
- Surva.ai switches your session to the new brand automatically
Switch between brands at any time using the dropdown. Each brand shows its own dashboard, prompts, competitors, and data.
Own Brand Competitor Record
When you create a brand, Surva.ai automatically creates an "own brand" competitor record. This is used internally to:
- Calculate your visibility share relative to competitors across all prompts
- Show your brand in competitor comparison charts and the Visibility Matrix
- Track your organic rankings alongside competitor positions
- Include your data in the Share of Voice metric
This record appears in your competitor list but cannot be deleted.
Onboarding Checklist
After brand creation, a 5-step checklist tracks your setup progress on the dashboard:
- Add keywords
- Add competitors
- View opportunities
- Track your first keyword
- Create content
Steps are auto-completed as you use the platform. Work through the checklist to make sure you are set up for full tracking.
