Building Your Ad Swipe File
Ad Swipe Files let you save and organize competitor ad creatives for reference. When you see an effective competitor ad, save it to your swipe file for inspiration and analysis.
What is a Swipe File?
A swipe file is a collection of marketing examples you find effective. In Surva.ai, it is specifically a collection of saved competitor ad creatives from Google Ads.
Saving Ads to Your Swipe File
When viewing competitor ads (on a keyword detail page or competitor detail page):
- Find an ad you want to save
- Click the Save to Swipe File button (bookmark icon)
- Optionally add notes about why you saved it
- The ad is saved to your swipe file collection
Viewing Your Swipe File
Navigate to Competitor Intel > Ad Swipes to see all saved ads.
Each saved ad shows:
- Headlines - Ad headline text
- Descriptions - Ad body text
- Final URL - Landing page destination
- Advertiser - Which competitor ran the ad
- Date Saved - When you saved it
- Your Notes - Any notes you added
Organizing Swipes
Use the search and filter options to organize your collection:
- Filter by competitor domain
- Search by keyword in ad text
- Sort by date saved
Using Swipe Files Effectively
- Messaging Research - Analyze how competitors position themselves
- Creative Inspiration - Use proven ad formats for your own campaigns
- Competitive Tracking - Document messaging changes over time
- Team Sharing - Share insights with your marketing team
Removing Saved Ads
To remove an ad from your swipe file, click the remove button on the swipe card. This only removes it from your saved collection - the original ad data remains in the competitor ad library.
