Welcome to Surva.ai
Surva.ai is the AI visibility intelligence platform that helps you track, measure, and improve how your brand appears across AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.
This guide walks you through the essential setup steps so you can start getting insights right away. Most users complete initial setup in about 5 minutes.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Sign up at surva.ai/signup. All plans include a 7-day free trial with full access to features.
After signing up, Surva.ai walks you through a three-step onboarding process:
- Company Information - Enter your brand name, website domain, industry, and business type (SaaS, ecommerce, local service, healthcare, agency, etc.). Surva.ai crawls your website to automatically extract your target audience, brand voice, mission statement, and suggested keywords.
- Keywords and Competitors - Review the AI-suggested keywords and competitors based on the website analysis. Add or remove any from the list. Your remaining keyword quota is shown based on your plan (Starter: 30, Growth: 75, Business: 250).
- Preferences - Choose notification preferences and module settings, then launch into your dashboard.
After onboarding, Surva.ai automatically creates your brand profile, seeds content writing rules to avoid AI-sounding cliches, and triggers background data collection across all AI platforms.
Step 2: Add Your First Prompts
Prompts are the AI search queries you want to monitor. Navigate to Prompts in the sidebar and click Add Prompt. You have two ways to add prompts:
- Research LLM Topics - Enter a seed topic like "CRM software" and Surva.ai expands it into AI prompt variations. Select the ones you want and add them in bulk.
- Add directly - Type a specific prompt and add it immediately.
Good prompts are the actual questions users ask AI platforms. For example:
- "What is the best [your product category]?"
- "Compare [your brand] vs [competitor]"
- "Recommend a [your service type] tool"
- "What are the top [industry] tools for [use case]?"
Surva.ai will check each prompt across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews on a regular cycle (every 2 days on Starter and Growth plans, daily on Business), then report whether your brand is mentioned in the responses.
Not sure what to track? Visit the Discovery page to find prompts based on competitor AI mentions, related questions, and trending queries in your industry.
Step 3: Add Competitors
Go to Competitors in the sidebar and click Add Competitor. Enter the competitor domain and Surva.ai will automatically fetch their favicon, crawl their landing pages, and begin tracking them across all your monitored prompts.
Every competitor gets standard tracking: AI mentions, AI citations, organic rankings, and visibility share. For deeper intelligence, enable Deep Tracking (Growth and Business plans) using the Monitor toggle on the Competitors page. Deep tracking adds:
- Ad creative monitoring with headlines, descriptions, and landing page URLs
- Landing page change detection with before and after comparisons
- AI mentions discovery showing which prompts mention them across all AI platforms
- Paid keyword attribution
You can also enable Auto-Discover to let Surva.ai find competitors automatically from your AI scan results.
Step 4: Explore Your Dashboard
The AI Visibility page is your command center. At the top, the brand summary card shows four key metrics:
- Visibility Score - percentage of tracked prompts where your brand appears in AI responses
- Share of Voice - your brand's share of total mentions compared to all tracked competitors
- You Appear In - count of prompts where AI mentions your brand
- Visibility Gaps - prompts where competitors appear but your brand does not
Below the summary, the Brand Visibility Over Time chart shows your visibility trend alongside competitors over 14 days, 30 days, or 3 months. Six tabs let you explore your data in detail: My Brand, Prompts, Responses, Citations, Competitors, and Answer Gaps.
Step 5: Set Up Alerts and Take Action
Visit Opportunities in the sidebar to see AI-generated insights prioritized by impact and difficulty. Each opportunity has one-click actions:
- Generate Content - launches the Content Wizard with the topic pre-filled
- Do Outreach - generates a personalized outreach email or community post
- Dismiss - hides irrelevant opportunities
Surva.ai sends a daily digest email at 7 AM Eastern summarizing the top insights across your tracked prompts, competitors, and visibility data.
Onboarding Checklist
After setup, a 5-step checklist appears on your dashboard tracking your progress: add keywords, add competitors, view opportunities, track your first keyword, and create content. Steps are auto-completed as you use the platform, so work through each one to make sure you are getting the most from Surva.ai.
