Track Your Citations Across AI Platforms
The My Citations feature aggregates all instances where AI platforms link directly to your website. Citations are valuable because they drive referral traffic and indicate that AI systems view your content as authoritative and trustworthy.
Accessing My Citations
View your citations by navigating to AI Visibility and selecting the My Citations tab.
What Counts as a Citation?
A citation is recorded when:
- Perplexity links to your website as a source
- Google AI Overviews includes your URL in source links
- Any AI platform provides a clickable link to your content
Citation Dashboard
The citations view shows:
- Total Citations - Aggregate count across all platforms
- Citations by Platform - Breakdown by Perplexity, Google AI, etc.
- Most Cited Pages - Which of your URLs get cited most often
- Citation Trend - Are you gaining or losing citations over time
- Keywords Driving Citations - What queries lead to your citations
Citation Details
Click any citation to see:
- The keyword that triggered the AI response
- The AI platform and response date
- Your specific page URL that was cited
- The context around why your page was cited
- Other sources cited in the same response
Most Cited Pages Report
Identify which content performs best in AI:
- See your top 10 most-cited URLs
- Understand what makes these pages successful
- Use insights to improve other content
- Track changes as you optimize pages
Citation Quality vs. Quantity
Not all citations are equal. Consider:
- Primary vs. Secondary - Are you the main source or supplementary?
- Query Intent - High-intent keywords drive more valuable traffic
- Position - Earlier citations may get more clicks
- Context - Positive context is better than neutral mentions
Improving Citation Rate
To earn more AI citations:
- Create data-driven, factual content
- Include original research, statistics, or unique insights
- Structure content clearly with headers and lists
- Keep information accurate and up-to-date
- Build overall domain authority
