What the Slack Integration Does
The Surva.ai Slack integration brings your AI visibility data directly into your Slack workspace. Once connected, you can receive a daily digest of your brand visibility changes, run slash commands to pull live data, and ask the Surva AI assistant questions by mentioning it in any channel. No browser required.
The integration includes:
- A daily digest delivered at 7 AM Eastern summarizing visibility changes, new competitor moves, and trending prompts
- Six slash commands for instant data on demand
- Natural language AI chat by mentioning @Surva in any channel
- An App Home tab showing your brand dashboard inside Slack
Before You Begin
You will need:
- An active Surva.ai account (any paid plan)
- Permission to install apps in your Slack workspace (workspace admin or app manager role)
- At least one brand configured with tracked prompts in Surva.ai
Step 1: Install the Surva.ai App in Slack
Click the button below to start the installation. You will be redirected to Slack to authorize the app.
Alternatively, go to your Surva.ai account, open Settings from the sidebar, click the Integrations tab, find the Slack section, and click Add to Slack.
Step 2: Authorize the Required Permissions
Slack will show you a permissions screen listing what Surva.ai is requesting access to. Review and click Allow.
Surva.ai requests the following permissions:
- channels:join - allows the bot to join public channels where you invite it
- app_mentions:read - allows the bot to receive messages where you @mention it
- channels:read - allows the bot to see channel information
- chat:write - allows the bot to post messages in channels
- commands - enables the /surva slash commands
- im:history, im:read, im:write - allows the bot to send and receive direct messages
- incoming-webhook - allows the bot to post daily digest messages to a channel you choose
- users:read, users:read.email - allows the bot to identify which Surva.ai account belongs to which Slack user
Step 3: Connect Your Surva.ai Account
After authorizing, you will be redirected back to Surva.ai. You will be prompted to select which brand to connect to this Slack workspace. If you have multiple brands, each can be connected to the same or different Slack workspaces.
Once connected, Surva.ai sends a welcome message to the channel you selected during installation. The message confirms the connection and shows a list of available commands.
Available Slash Commands
Type any of the following commands in any Slack channel where the Surva.ai bot has been added:
- /surva status - shows your current AI visibility score, share of voice, and top visibility gaps
- /surva digest - pulls today's digest on demand without waiting for the 7 AM delivery
- /surva gaps - lists your top 5 visibility gaps where competitors appear but you do not
- /surva content - shows your most recent content pieces and their citation scores
- /surva competitors - shows a summary of competitor activity from the last 24 hours
- /surva help - displays the full list of available commands with descriptions
Asking Questions with @Surva
Mention @Surva in any channel where the bot is present to ask natural language questions about your data.
Example questions you can ask:
- @Surva which competitor gained the most AI visibility this week?
- @Surva what prompts should I be targeting right now?
- @Surva how is my visibility trending compared to last month?
- @Surva what content gaps do I have for keyword research tools?
Surva.ai uses your brand context and current data to generate a relevant, data-backed answer. Responses appear as threaded replies so they do not clutter the main channel feed.
App Home Tab
Click the Surva.ai app name in your Slack sidebar to open the App Home tab. This tab shows a mini-dashboard with your current visibility score, your top 5 tracked prompts by AI presence, and a shortcut to run your daily digest. The App Home updates each time you open it, pulling fresh data from your account.
Daily Digest
The daily digest is delivered at 7 AM Eastern to the channel you selected during installation. The digest includes:
- Your current AI visibility score and week-over-week change
- New competitor ads detected in the last 24 hours
- Prompts where your visibility changed (gained or lost)
- Top trending prompts in your tracked topics
- Landing page changes detected for tracked competitors
To change which channel receives the digest, go to Settings > Integrations > Slack in Surva.ai and update the target channel. To pause the digest, toggle off daily notifications from the same screen.
Troubleshooting
- Commands are not working - make sure you added the Surva.ai bot to the channel by typing /invite @Surva. Slash commands only work in channels where the bot is a member.
- Not receiving the daily digest - check that the digest channel is still correct in Settings and that the bot has not been removed from that channel.
- @Surva is not responding - confirm that the bot is a member of the channel. If messages are still not going through, try removing and reinstalling the integration from Settings.
- Wrong brand data showing - if you have multiple brands, go to Settings and confirm which brand is linked to the Slack workspace. Each workspace can only be connected to one brand at a time.
- Need to reinstall - go to Settings, disconnect the Slack integration, then click Add to Slack again to start fresh.
