What is Ask Surva?
Ask Surva is the AI-powered research assistant built directly into Surva.ai. Think of it as having a competitive intelligence analyst available 24/7 who already knows your brand, your competitors, your tracked prompts, and your visibility data across every AI platform.
You can open Ask Surva from the chat icon in the bottom-right corner of any page, or from the Ask Surva link in the sidebar navigation.
What Can Ask Surva Do?
Suggest Prompts to Track
Ask Surva analyzes your brand, industry, competitors, and geographic context to suggest new prompts you should be monitoring. Suggestions include priority levels and rationale. When Ask Surva suggests prompts, clickable Track buttons appear so you can add them directly without leaving the chat.
Try asking:
- "What prompts should I be tracking?"
- "Suggest prompts related to [topic]"
- "What are my competitors ranking for that I am not tracking?"
- "Suggest local prompts for my area"
Analyze Competitors
Ask Surva can compare your brand against any tracked competitor, identify visibility gaps, and recommend new competitors to monitor. When it suggests new competitors, clickable Add buttons appear.
Try asking:
- "Compare me vs [competitor name]"

How It Works
Ask Surva uses advanced AI (powered by OpenAI) combined with your real-time Surva.ai account data. Every response is personalized to your brand, your tracked prompts, your competitors, and your actual visibility metrics.
The assistant sees:
- Your brand profile (name, domain, industry, location, business type)
- All tracked prompts with metrics (AI visibility, search volume, trend scores, opportunity scores)
- All tracked competitors with their visibility and mention data
- Recent competitor ads and organic rankings
- Brand mention trends and platform breakdowns
- Citation data across AI platforms
- Competitive gap analysis (ad, content, AI, messaging gaps)

Conversations
Ask Surva maintains conversation history so you can have multi-turn discussions. Your conversations are saved and accessible from the chat sidebar. You can:
- Start a new conversation - Click the + icon to begin a fresh discussion
- Resume a conversation - Click any previous conversation in the sidebar to continue where you left off
- Rename conversations - Click the pencil icon to give a conversation a descriptive name
- Delete conversations - Remove conversations you no longer need
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Ask Surva
- Be specific - "Compare my visibility on CRM prompts vs HubSpot" works better than "tell me about competitors"
- Ask follow-up questions - Ask Surva remembers the conversation context, so you can drill deeper into any topic
- Use the action buttons - When Track, Add, or Create Article buttons appear, click them to take immediate action
- Ask about your data - Ask Surva is most powerful when analyzing your actual metrics rather than general questions
- Request charts - Ask for trend charts or comparison tables when you want visual data
